Interventional Radiology

Interventional Radiology is a rapidly growing field of medicine. Interventional radiologists are physicians who specialize in minimally invasive, targeted treatments using image guidance.

They use their expertise in reading X-rays, ultrasound and other medical images to guide small instruments such as catheters (tubes that measure a few millimeters in diameter) through the blood vessels or other pathways to treat patients. These procedures are typically less invasive and require less recover time.

Interventional procedures performed at Saint Elizabeth include:

  • Angiography Stenting
  • Balloon angioplasty
  • Biopsy and drainage procedures
  • Embolization and Chemoembolization
  • Gastrostomy tubes
  • Hemodialysis Access Maintenance
  • Uterine Fibroid Embolization
  • Varicose Vein Treatment
  • Vena Cava Filters
  • Vertebroplasty and Kyphoplasty
