Many Americans are at an increased risk for heart disease especially if they are overweight and do not exercise. If you have a family history of diabetes and are at least 10 pounds overweight, you are a risk to develop high cholesterol and/or triglycerides, high blood pressure and diabetes. These three conditions make up metabolic syndrome which leads to heart disease. You may be in the "at risk" category for stroke, diabetes and other serious health problems BUT it is not too late to do something about it!
Presented by a Registered Nurse and a Registered Dietician who are certified diabetes educators as wellas an exercise physiologist,. We will discuss what you can do to lower your risk---often by making by making lifestyle changes.
We also offer helpful advice on how to get started, on those changes; provide guidelines for lipids, blood pressure and blood sugar levels; and how to know if you have the metabolic syndrome.
