Ultrasound Technology - 4D/3D/2D
There are several different scanning modes in medical and obstetric ultrasound at Physicians for Women. 2-D ultrasounds are used to diagnose and direct the treatment of gynecology and fertility issues. 3D Ultrasound Technology is a medical ultrasound technique, often used during pregnancy, providing three dimensional images of the fetus. The standard common obstetric diagnostic mode is 2D scanning which is also a viable option. In 3D and 4D fetal scanning, however, instead of the sound waves being sent straight down and reflected back, they are sent at different angles. These can also allow you to see width, height and depth of images. This sophisticated computer program results in a reconstructed three or four dimensional volume image of fetus's surface or internal organs and provides real time images of your infant. 4D ultrasound takes multiple images in rapid succession, creating a three-dimensional motion video.
