Fibroids and Endometriosis
Fibroids and endometriosis are common health concerns we understand, can diagnose, and provide individualized treatment approaches for you. Fibroids are usually benign growths of tissue found on the smooth muscles of the uterus, and can cause pelvic pain, infertility, and heavy menstrual bleeding. Uterine fibroids don’t develop until after puberty, and usually after age 30. Uterine fibroids shrink or disappear after menopause, when estrogen levels fall.
Some women with endometriosis do not show any signs of this, and others have symptoms that range from mild to severe. Symptoms may include: pelvic pain, severe menstrual cramps, backaches, pain during sexual intercourse, rectal pain, pain during bowel movements, infertility, which may be the only sign. Symptoms are often most severe just before and during the menstrual cycle and can get better as your cycle is ending. But for some women, pain is ongoing and does not improve. This can be especially common in teens with endometriosis. If you are experiencing any of these symptoms you should know that Physicians for Women can offer you the newest alternatives for treatment.
