About the Residency Site

Saint Elizabeth Regional Medical Center, founded more than 120 years ago, is a full-service, 264-bed, nonprofit regional medical center in Lincoln, Nebraska. Saint Elizabeth is part of Catholic Health Initiatives, a national, nonprofit health system that operates in 18 states and includes 86 hospitals.

Saint Elizabeth also has a teaching affiliation with Creighton University and the University of Nebraska Medical Center Colleges of Pharmacy in Omaha, Nebraska. Clinical pharmacy functions include pharmacokinetic monitoring and dosing, multidisciplinary care team rounding, antimicrobial stewardship, drug information and overall pharmacotherapy monitoring.

Purpose Statement

The mission of the Saint Elizabeth Pharmacy Residency Program is to provide residents with the opportunity to accelerate their growth beyond entry-level professional competence in patient-centered care and pharmacy operations, and to further their development of leadership skills that can be applied in a PGY2 Residency or other position and in any practice setting. The residency program will be utilized to provide traditional and innovative pharmacy services to ensure optimal patient care.

Candidate Requirements:

  1. The candidate must possess a Doctor of Pharmacy degree awarded from an ACPE-accredited College of Pharmacy.
  2. The candidate must be eligible for licensure as a pharmacist in the state of Nebraska.
  3. The candidate must submit all application materials as listed below through PhORCAS.
  4. The candidate must complete the Gallup survey.
  5. The candidate must complete an on-site interview.

Longitudinal Required Experiences Include:

  • Practice Management
  • Education and Precepting
  • Staffing
  • Research Project

Residency Opportunities:

  1. Provision of Drug Information related to patient care and prospective therapeutic drug monitoring to ensure provision of safe, efficacious and cost effective pharmacotherapy to Saint Elizabeth Regional Medical Center patients.
  2. Staffing as a clinical pharmacist on afternoons and weekends in the Inpatient Pharmacy.
  3. Teaching opportunities are available with department education, journal clubs, hospital committee presentations, presentations to family practice medical residents and precepting fourth year Pharm.D. students on clinical rotations.
  4. Teaching Certificate Program and Reflective Practitioner & Ignation Values seminars available through Creighton University School of Pharmacy.
