What Happens in a Rehabilitation Program?
Our Saint Elizabeth Rehab Program consists of three levels or phases.
Inpatient Rehab: The first phase occurs while you are in the hospital. The amount of rehab will
be dependent upon your diagnosis and length of stay in the hospital. It is during
this time that you start learning about your diagnosis and how it will be treated.
You may have received instructions to change your diet, stop smoking, and start
exercising.
Acute Outpatient: The second phase occurs during outpatient visits three times per week. At your
first visit, we will design a program to meet your specific needs. Your program
will consist of exercise and education to assist you with lifestyle changes that
will improve your overall health.
- You will be scheduled to attend rehab three days each week for approximately
6-8 weeks. Additional sessions may be added as necessary
- Your exercise sessions are approximately one hour in length, three-days-per-week.
- Your education sessions are an additional hour one-day-per-week.
- Relaxation sessions are offered one day-per-week.
Maintenance: The last level of rehabilitation is to maintain an exercise program. We offer
this program during which you will continue to exercise up to five times per week.
The staff will continue to provide support while you independently exercise. Your
spouse can join you during this phase of the program.
What does this cost?
We offer a program, competitively-priced within this region. Rehabilitation services
are covered by most insurance plans and by Medicare. We will assist you in understanding
whether your insurance or Medicare coverage includes this benefit.
How Do I Get Started?
Rehabilitation requires a referral from your physician. If you have a cardiac
or pulmonary condition ask your physician to refer you to Saint Elizabeth for
your Cardiac or Pulmonary Rehabilitation. Our staff can also assist you with obtaining
an order.
