Our Mission and Spirituality
The mission of Saint Elizabeth Regional Medical Center is to nurture the healing
ministry of the Church by bringing it new life, energy and viability in the 21st
century. Fidelity to the Gospel urges us to emphasize human dignity and social
justice as we move toward the creation of healthier communities.
Our Core Values are:
Reverence Integrity Compassion Excellence
Spirituality
Spirituality and prayer provide the foundation for the healing work performed
at Saint Elizabeth Regional Medical Center. The Sisters of St. Francis of Perpetual
Adoration began a tradition of Catholic care when they opened Lincoln’s first
hospital in 1889.
Today’s healing environment and compassionate staff address each patient’s spiritual
and emotional needs as well as physical needs. Total wellness is promoted through
prayer, access to nature, calming music, scented candles, soft lighting and many
other soothing touches. Pastoral Care services are also available around the clock
to help meet the spiritual needs of patients and their loved ones.
