Child Care Topics

Is Your Child Sick?

Why is it children always seem to get sick just after your pediatrician's office closes? Whether it is just before bed or over the weekend, nothing makes a parent more anxious than a sick child when the doctor is unavailable. Not knowing whether the child needs simple home treatments, a visit to the doctor the next morning, or, worst of all, to be seen and treated immediately, creates tremendous concern. And parents often aren't sure whether they should call the doctor, if they even could.

Our Child Care Topics are designed especially for these times. They help parents and caregivers make appropriate decisions on what level of medical care (if any) is needed and how to provide symptom relief of simple issues at home. We have learned from our Saint Elizabeth Telephone Line to Care, that the overwhelming majority of the "after hours" phone calls we get are from parents with a sick or injured child.
