Is Your Child Sick?
Why is it children always seem to get sick just after your pediatrician's office closes? Whether it is just before bed or over the weekend, nothing makes a parent more anxious than a sick child when the doctor is unavailable. Not knowing whether the child needs simple home treatments, a visit to the doctor the next morning, or, worst of all, to be seen and treated immediately, creates tremendous concern. And parents often aren't sure whether they should call the doctor, if they even could.

Our Child Care Topics are designed especially for these times. They help parents and caregivers make appropriate decisions on what level of medical care (if any) is needed and how to provide symptom relief of simple issues at home. We have learned from our Saint Elizabeth Telephone Line to Care, that the overwhelming majority of the "after hours" phone calls we get are from parents with a sick or injured child.

Home Care
We recognize that many illnesses and injuries can be treated at home. Therefore, each page has a list of home treatments to offer you guidance or just reassurance. The 85 Child Care Topics available through this service are arranged in 15 anatomical categories. Accessing them is easy! Simply click the appropriate category below. Then, select the category of interest. Once you find your desired topic, you can read it on your screen and/or print it for future reference.
