| Lab Awarded National Accreditation |
|
The College of American Pathologists (CAP) has recently awarded accreditation to the laboratory at Saint Elizabeth Regional Medical Center after a rigorous review. The accreditation letter congratulated the Saint Elizabeth director Mary Sorensen and her team for "excellence of the services being provided." The CAP-accreditation is recognized by the federal government as being equal to or more stringent than the government's own inspection program. The CAP accreditation process includes inspectors examining the laboratory's records and quality control of procedures for the preceding two years and incorporates an on-site visit. CAP inspectors examine the entire staffs’ qualifications, the laboratory's equipment, facilities, safety program and record, as well as the overall management of the laboratory. This stringent inspection program is designed to specifically ensure the highest standard of care for all laboratory patients. |
