Celebrating Cancer Survivors

Cancer survivors are invited to attend our free art classes called Expressions of Art & Hope. We have partnered with LUX Center for the Arts to offer you the opportunity to explore a creative process of self-expression and reflection to help you meet the challenges of diagnosis, treatment and beyond.

Sign up today. Early registration is encouraged as space is limited. Classes are held in the lower level of Saint Elizabeth from 6 - 8 p.m. and are taught by instructors from LUX Center for the Arts.

Upcoming Classes

Monday, June 10, 6 – 8 p.m.
Fused Glass: Participants will cut and layer colorful glass which will be fired so that the glass fuses together to create a finished piece. Participants will create a sun catcher or a pendant.

Monday, July 8, 6 – 8 p.m.
Clay Tiles: Participants will create a ceramic tile by starting with a clay slab. Participants will add coils of clay to the surface, apply glaze and then draw into the tiles to make a 3-dimensional piece.

Monday, August 12, 6 – 8 p.m.
Drawing: Participants will explore drawing techniques as they work from a still life. Different shading and blending techniques will be taught as participants learn to draw what they see.

Monday, September 9, 6 – 8 p.m. 
Monotypes: Participants will learn a printing process that combines printmaking and painting techniques to produce a one-of-a-kind print on paper.

Monday, October 14, 6 – 8 p.m.
Watercolor: Participants will explore with watercolors as they paint flowers. Real flowers and photographs will be used as participants create a simple painting.

Monday, November 11, 6 – 8 p.m.
Wire-wrapped pendants: Participants will learn wire-wrapping techniques to create a unique pendant. Participants will use wire to make a setting for a focal bead creating a special piece of jewelry.

Monday, December 9, 6 – 8 p.m.
Screen printing: Participants will use stenciling techniques as they learn about screen printing. Cutting simple shapes and attaching to a screen, participants will transfer ink to paper and fabric.
